Hubble Ultra Deep Field in 3D! And now, I have to go eat my rice.
This is an amazing video:

via (who else) the mighty Pharyngula by the astonishingly prolific PZ Myers.
And if you’re feeling good about humanity after watching that, then, here’s the antidote, via The Friendly Atheist, via Cynical-C:

Now, I am 99.9% sure that this is meant to be a parody, and if so, it’s very well done. Notice the numerous abrupt edits. I suspect those are to conceal failures to maintain straight faces. And watch what happens at the 9:10 mark.
Edit: On second viewing… and even in view of the posting on RichardDawkins.net, man… I don’t know. I really can’t tell if it’s real or fake. This strikes me as a pretty strong argument for the truth of Poe’s law.
Edit again… there are some other videos by these characters. When you come to the part when they’re reading from a joke book supposedly they found in their parents bookshelf, and wonder about the “wasp” jokes and the jokes about “polish,” and talk about how the comments they get that say that they make Christians look bad are good because, hey, they’re such good Christians that they make the other Christians look bad… well. It makes them look less like idiots and more like genius actors playing the parts of idiots, and maybe the Helen Keller joke pushes things to the point that they just HAVE to be acting, and not really that idiotic.
Edit: Aug 16, 2009: To quote Dumb and Dumber, “Just when I think you couldn’t possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this…and totally redeem yourself!“
