The Grave of Copernicus Must be Spinning Around Him.

Today I got this tri-fold pamphlet in the mail. I get so much junk mail these days I almost tossed it without ever registering what it was, but the word “Scientists” caught my eye, then I realized it was a religious outfit, and figuring it was some anti-evolution bullshit, I almost threw it away again. On the way to the garbage can, I opened it up and found that, no, this was not the usual.

This was some extra special shit right here.

These nutballs think the sun goes around the earth, instead of the other way around, and that the earth is the center of the universe, and they want to send you a free book explaining why they think so. You see this kind of thing on the internet, but it’s somehow a bit more depressing to see it coming in by regular mail.

Bad Astronomy talks about geocentrism a bit.

  1. Unbelievable. What do these people hope to gain by this? Something that is obviously wrong and ignorant… to perpetuate an idea as stupid as this.

Stupid conspiracy theorists. And their “logic,” if that’s what you want to call it. No matter what you say, they always say that it’s “part of the conspiracy.” No matter how vast and outrageous it sounds, it’s what the scientific community and government are capable of.

  2. Never understatement the stupidity of people.
One charismatic person can lead many gullible people to believe anything. And if there beliefs clash with what science says they say science is wrong or they’ll twist it make it sound as if it supports there clams and if science supports one claim they make, even if its very small, they will use to say science supports there ideas.
nest time it’ll probably be a pamphlet about the earth being flat and NASA if fake and its all a conspiracy.
