Jerry Coyne’s “Why Evolution is True” and giant hornets

I’ve been reading Jerry Coyne’s book Why Evolution is True, and it’s a good one.

There’s one section in which he writes about Giant Asian Hornets, native to Japan, attacking the hives of introduced European honeybees:

But it’s no contest. Wading into the hive with jaws slashing, the hornets decapitate the bees one by one. With each hornet making bee heads roll at a rate of forty per minute, the battle is over in a few hours: every bee is dead, and body parts litter the hive.

Well, the natural thing to do after reading that is head over to youtube and see what we can see:
