  1. I was amused by the plethora of responses, like a person who was raised in an atheist household and yet somehow managed to believe in God, or the one that called Linus a “secular extremist” Secular extremism?…. Is that an adamant belief that people shouldn’t be subject to a Government that consults a thousands of year old book of faire tales as an absolute authority on the universe? Oh It is:

“Secular extremists believe there is no deity, demons, etc. without any proof.”

Which of course brings up the simple fact that mankind has come up a billion silly other little notions that neither that writer or linus believes in, but somehow not believing in them isn’t “extreme”

But one person brings up a not quite so laughable point: Why the fear, the fear of Christianity. And goes to try to compare it to homophobia:

A man who finds another man attractive isn’t going to enslave me, kill me, injure me, think I’m morally inferior, pass laws to inhibit my fredom, supperess scientific discoveries, or cause a war based on his finding another man attractive

Someone who thinks they are direct agent of the creator of the universe just might, using past behavior as a model

  2. Thanks for the reply, Doug.

You write: “Someone who thinks they are direct agent of the creator of the universe just might, using past behavior as a model”

As I noted in that thread, the Catholic church has been very active in suppressing the use of condoms in Africa, in areas ravaged by AIDS. So, that “just might” that you mention can be safely modified to “definitely will,” in the particular instance with which we are faced.
