‘A Universe From Nothing’ by Lawrence Krauss, AAI 2009

Here’s a video of Lawrence Krauss talking about cosmology for about an hour to an audience of non-cosmologists. It’s from 2009, but I hadn’t seen it before. Well worth watching.

  1. Another blogging atheist pointed me to this video, and I have to say that I came up with no less than 14 questions/objections to his arguments in this video.

Ultimately, it all comes down to one huge flaw: there was no claim as to the origin of the universe. All he did was state that the universe is something out of nothing. This only corroborates the Genesis account that God, in fact, created the universe “ex nihilo”. We’ve come 6,000 years at a minimum to science (I call Krauss science in this case) stating what the Bible has stated since its inception. I’m confused how he can basically say, “What the Bible says happened is extremely plausible now based on the science we know that the universe came from nothing, but that means that God doesn’t exist.” The naturalist still doesn’t have an Uncaused Cause for the existence of the universe; the theist does. An answer with some science is better than no answer with some science.

I’d be happy to share my other objections with you if you wish, but to list them all out would be a bit lengthy.

    Kind regards.

    • Why don’t you email Krauss? It’s his video, not mine.

The Bible’s a load of shit. That you can make some of it fail to disagree with some science says nothing.

“The naturalist still doesn’t have an Uncaused Cause for the existence of the universe; the theist does. An answer with some science is better than no answer with some science.”

Only an idiot could make such a statement with the idea in mind that the god described in the Bible is any kind of answer. Lack of an answer is not a license to believe whatever random blatant bullshit your brainwashed parents unwittingly brainwashed you into believing..

  2. What he was trying state was that quantum theory was the cause for universe. The reason for this is delta(p)delta(x)< bar_constant this is The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle(HUP). When apply the HUP to space at the big bang you'l get infinite uncertainty particle momentum delta(p) when delta(x) goes to 0. This essence of a Quantum Genesis theory. The essence of quantum theory is that the consevation of mass-energy… are not rue constantss and that it should be replace with the idea that they merely near constants. Pair Product and pair Anhilation have been observed in particle accelators. But the term is not Bibical “ex nihilo” it from post-bibical theology. If you real want understand a intuitive quantum genesis model of reality without any math go to my site doctorasshole.com and leave comment. Krause full of himself and he'll argue about anything even the back a dollar bill.

    • I’m confident that sabepashubbo’s comment, “This only corroborates the Genesis account that God, in fact, created the universe “ex nihilo”” was referring to the Bible.

I don’t doubt there are other non-biblical (or “post-biblical”) theologies. That they bother with calling themselves theologies is instantly a bad sign however. Doctorasshole. That’s a good name. I like it.

  3. I love this blog. All of it.
