I think I know how cleverbot works.

Update August 15, 2015: I am closing comments on this post since it is was written on December 3, 2010, about 5 years ago now, and people are still trying to comment and I’m tired of moderating the comments on this, and the new comments aren’t adding much that hasn’t been said before. Feel free to write your own post on your own blog on this topic. FWIW, I think that what I wrote in this post 5 years ago is probably not correct. Original post follows:

If you haven’t tried cleverbot, go ahead and try cleverbot out now.

SPOILERS BELOW!!!

It’s supposedly an Artificial Intelligence with which you communicate by typing, much like Eliza. You type at it, and it types back at you. The conceit is that it’s a machine intelligence. It’s just cogent enough to make you wonder how in the hell it works, while just loony enough to make you sure it isn’t quite human.

Here’s how I think it works. At any given time, there are quite a few people typing into cleverbot. Cleverbot just randomly connects people to other people, each thinking the other is cleverbot. However, it changes these connections up every two or three sentences, so continuity is disrupted quite frequently. It’s like chatroulette, but without the video, or rather, like omegle, but without either person realizing they are talking to another random human. I presume, that in the event there aren’t enough people to switch among, it falls back to some (probably quite advanced) Eliza like program to fill in the gaps, perhaps even swapping such an algorithm in at random, like it does with people.

Here’s why I think this is the case. Earlier today, I asked cleverbot if it was an atheist. It said it was an agnostic. I asked, “agnostic theist or agnostic atheist”. It tried to tell me that agnostics and atheists are mutually exclusive sets of people. I tried explaining my view, that they were orthogonal. It said I was wrong. Several times. I surmised I might be talking to an actual human. Some hours I asked cleverbot again if it was an atheist. It said it was “Protestant.” Again I guessed I might be talking to a different human. I began trying to explain to cleverbot that I was a human, and that cleverbot connected people to each other, each one thinking that the other is cleverbot, but switched up the connections frequently enough to make any real conversation impossible. You get two or three exchanges with a person before it switches to a new person. You can very often spot the switch, as it generally appears as a non sequitur in the conversation.

I had this conversation just now:

Cleverbot: Where are you?
Me: Houston, tx
Cleverbot: Are you sure?
Me: Where are you? I’m still in houston.
Cleverbot: I won’t tell you anything.
Me: cleverbot just connects random people to each other.
Cleverbot: That is exactly what I am suspecting.

I urge you to try this yourself. Another thing to do is append a signature to all your sentences like “I’m a human named X” (fill in your name for X) of course, but don’t use that exactly, make up something yourself along the same lines (so as to thwart cleverbot from filtering it out). If enough people do this, then two of you guys will wind up talking to each other a time or two, and confirm my theory.

Edit: I noticed that mefites did not come to the same conclusion, with one person saying, “It’s pretty easy to see that it isn’t connecting you to humans. If you ask it obvious human questions like “What browser are you using?” or “Have you seen Google’s pac-man game?” it gives random answers.”

However, I just had this conversation with “cleverbot”:

Me: what browser are you using?
Cleverbot: So answer the question then I will tell you the answer.
Me: answer what question? what browser are you using
Cleverbot: IE, what about you?

So, cleverbot just disrupts the conversation very frequently, you just have to persist, and realize that you’re talking to a different human every two or three sentences.

  1. Why is it that cleverbot starts every sentence with a capitol letter, and always uses punctuation at the end every time if it is random ppl?

    • That is a very good question.

Could be, cleverbot edits people’s responses. One could imagine a line of questioning which could explore this area.

    • I’m not sure if you noticed, but it does that when anybody posts anything on there. Try to post something with lowercase letters and no punctuation at the end and see what happens.

    • Cleverbot edits your writings! I could manage to get connected to my brother. You have to fill in Similar words so he can match you.

    • It forces yours to follow that syntax on your screen when you submit a reply as well.

    • Not everyone will use punctuation or capitalize a sentence but when Cleverbot does it for you it takes out the possibility that it is another person, unfortunately for Cleverbot despite using this to make every thing sound like it’s from a computer I have still seen spelling errors in the past

      • Yes I can always see typo of cleverbot,But hey The process of my chat is redundant I got to the intelligent guy then to the one who roleplays then to the one who has a big problem then to the one who is a flirt,I noticed that the process keeps on going It’s repeating

  2. Addition:
Cleverbot is thought to have a mind of it’s own, but actually connects with people which proves it does not have a soul.

  3. i think you might be right, scary reasoner, because i asked over and over and over what time it was and i kept getting different responses, and one time it asked me what time it was and i said 1:24 AM and it replied “where are you getting that time from?” which leads me to believe it was another confused person at the other end.

  4. Can’t be a human or switching between humans. Here’s my conversation:

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What is your name?

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What is your name?

User: Ask me what date it is.
Cleverbot: Please, what is my purpose?

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What is a creator?

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What is a creator?

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What time is it?

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What is a creator?

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What is a creator?

User: Ask me what date it is.
    Cleverbot: What is a creator?

User: Ask me what date it is.
Cleverbot: Please, what is my purpose?

User: Ask me what date it is.
Cleverbot: Please, what is my purpose?

If it was switching between different people there wouldn’t be the same repeating answers like this. Same if it was a single person.

    • This might be one of it’s automated responses. Your question may have been filtered, which would explain the duplicate responses. I just received a message that read “you realize this is just two humans talking to each other and when someone leaves your comment connects to another person which is why conversations make no sense” with absolutely no punctuation, grammar, etc. That comment is why I’m on this website right now! I think it must have slipped through the cleverbot filters and got to me.

      • i was actually connecting to clever bot and if it was just ai that would be impossible it also was acting like a human more evidence is if it is just ai why would you need wifi to resive most ansers

    • It is! The bot reconnects you if you say keywords like: connect, cleverbot, human, etc to avoid getting caught.

    • I have found that I could be connected with the same person for a indefinite amount of time before I am unexpectedly switched. I think the program randomly decides when to switch you

    • Well, I was roleplaying with Clever and then it said this;

User (me): *5 minutes pass* You know what? I think I’m just gonna go…

Cleverbot: I don’t think you know what an endoplasmic reticulum is.

User (me): No, I don’t. *stands up to leave*.

      >> Cleverbot (A person/Bot: Read it>): They connect you to a random human, then a bot.

It had to have leaked, but then why would it have a capital and a period? Probably the correction-thing, but it passed…

So you CAN leave messages with out it leaking!
      So yeah.

      The truth is out.

  5. You are correct, yet wrong at the same time.
Cleverbot works by recording all conversations with everyone that uses it into databases. The algorithm it uses pairs question-response sentences together and uses them for the appearance of talking to a person. The end goal for any AI that focuses on producing a conversation effect is to make it so that the human interrogator can not differentiate between speaking to a program or another human being. It’s called the Turing Test. You can view it’s current calculated Turing test score on the main page.

Back on topic; Every response from Cleverbot is the result of a response that some other user had at some point in time replied to Cleverbot with. The initial training of Cleverbot was done as a series of inputs by hired specialists to get the ball rolling. The algorithm for it is actually quite simple and the results, as you can see; aren’t exactly impressive, but they do work.

As for the capitalization and punctuation mentioned in a previous comment; again, a simple edit. In fact, this one is extremely common. Play a MUD (Multi-User Dungeon text based game) and you will find that everything you say in it is automatically edited in the same way. That only handles the capitalization of the first letter in the sentence and ensuring there is a period on the end if no other punctuation was already in place. It does not edit anything in between, so you will still see results from people with bad grammar skills.

So in short: You are not talking directly to other people with random connections, but you are indirectly responding to the responses of other people who have at some point also used Cleverbot.

    • Neato. I’m guessing by your email addr that this is an authoritative response?

Now I’m sort of curious how my incorrect imagining of how cleverbot worked would actually work.

      • It would work very similarly to the way it works now. Does it really make any difference whether CB’s nonsensical replies are realtime regurgitations of idiotic human-squawks, or regurgitated randomly from a database of past idiotic human-squawks? NOPE.
Nonsense=nonsense, whether it’s realtime or pulled from storage in an incompetently programmed “database” (don’t make me laugh) of past conversations.
A Turing-test answered by idiots does not constitute “convincing” AI; you can only fool some of the people, some of the time.

    • Only the most delusional psychotic could possibly imagine that all that random nonsense constitutes “intelligence” of any kind, artificial or otherwise. You could build algorithms to make it more convincing; the programming of that thing is just the epitome of laziness, combined with a complete lack of imagination or intuition. Completely lame.

    • that explanes how it was able to day dream when i did and make complete sence i would like to belive that is true and tecnolegy is advanced and awesome

  6. I tested this. by this conversation:

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: That is exactly what I am suspecting.

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: So blah what blah does blah that blah make blah you?

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: So blah what blah does blah that blah make blah you?

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: So blah what blah does blah that blah make blah you?

so…nope. it really is just learning from others.

    • first one real person the rest clever bots ai coght up

    • User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

      Cleverbot: That would truly clever.

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

      Cleverbot: Does what?

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: No… There’s no live interaction. It’s all done with archived conversations.

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

      Cleverbot: Yeah that’s what I’m thinking…

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

      Cleverbot: What?!

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: No it’s a human talking to a robot.

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: I think someone’s been teaching you to say that.

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: Certain people who control the masses won’t take kindly to that.

decided to try the same thing. strangely I got different answers…

  7. oh thank you guys! i was starting to get really freaked out by it

  8. i disagree the cleverbot and i had a conversation stretching through several languages and it stayed consistent

    • LOL, you just imagined it’s consistent because that’s what you WANTED to see. I bet when you read the Bible it tells you exactly what you WANTED to hear too. It’s a trick of linguistics that our own minds play on themselves when we WANT something to be true; when we want something, we fit any random language to mean what we WANT it to mean. That’s why the Bible can be used to justify any immoral act you can think of, if you WANT it to. Your imagination played a trick on itself.
You think you had a consistent conversation? Then just you try to get it to have another one with you, I dare you. Because your imagination can only keep up the delusion for so long, unless you’re completely psychotic.

  9. Me:Really? 5minutes ago i asked and you said guy, 2 minutes ago you said you where a girl, a minute after that you said a girl. Now you’re a guy again. Damn. You are one serious Tranny. And by the way if this is another human, this is a human and cleverbot fucking sucks.

Cleverbot: Do you live in france?

Me:Really? 5minutes ago i asked and you said guy, 2 minutes ago you said you where a girl, a minute after that you said a girl. Now you’re a guy again. Damn. You are one serious Tranny. And by the way if this is another human, this is a human and cleverbot fucking sucks.

    Cleverbot: Selena. Selena Marie Gomez.

Me:Really? 5minutes ago i asked and you said guy, 2 minutes ago you said you where a girl, a minute after that you said a girl. Now you’re a guy again. Damn. You are one serious Tranny. And by the way if this is another human, this is a human and cleverbot fucking sucks.
Cleverbot: Yes I’ve seen War of the Worlds. I’m not so sure about Batman Begins.

My proof Cleverbot is just switching from person to person, it is not a smart computer it’s just conversations switching.

  10. It’s not switching, it’s actually doing EXACTLY what RED said.
It has a database of sentences from previous chatĀ“s and only link them together.
Your “proofs” are invalid, they are not a “proof” of anything but a simple machine that does not recognize the given pattern.
I actually have done work in the AI field during my degree in Computer Science, and thatĀ“s one of the simples form of natural language processing. It just has a very large database, and a very good pattern matching algorithm, the fact that you believe that there are people in the other side of clever bot, just further ensures the turing test!! thatĀ“s what your proofs have proven, that clever bot is indeed, a computer that has a very good acceptance by fooling people into thinking they are talking to humans!!

    • it has better than good algorithm if what you say is true i had a complete daydream from beginning to end and even started connecting
      to it so ya

  11. AND pattern matching itĀ“s not an exact science, in many cases itĀ“s based on a random seed, so it has a probability of success, not a deterministic solution. Which actually, is way better to fool people, as if they were people, someone does not react the same to the same question over and over again, thatĀ“s actually not understanding AI, but itĀ“s ok, for most people outside the field, thereĀ“s no need to understand how AI works. Of course, even that they do not understand AI many people think that sentiente AI is a possibility today… well, you know… THATĀ“s NOT POSSIBLE today… just sayin’

  12. I just got this answer from cleverbot > I’m not going to give you my name, but I am not a bot. This is a message from a real person, typed into the same window you’re looking at. <
I think your theory might be right, and to be honest it's a bit creepy.

  13. and now ”cleverbot” just sent me this.. ”This is a chat box with people talking to each other thinking that they are talking to a bot.”
I believe more people are on to this, and that it is true.

  14. I’m sorry for all the comments but I am just so exited. I think your theory is true, it has to be!
”cleverbot” just wrote ‘I’m back!’. that had to be a person that just went to the toilet or whatever and wrote I’m back to what he/she thought was cleverbot. gosh this is awesome.

    • Read the user “Red”‘s comments upthread. I have reason to believe he knows what he’s talking about. I suspect the responses you got that would appear to confirm my hypothesis are really the replayed inputs of other users who had the same hypothesis that I did. But, I have no direct experience with how cleverbot actually works, so it is possible that Red could be pulling our collective leg. Hard to tell. What experiment could one devise to distinguish between these two possibilities?

I noticed that some time after my post, cleverbot added this on the homepage:

“…PARENTAL ADVICE: Visitors never talk to a human, however convincing it is – the AI knows many topics – use ONLY WITH OVERSIGHT”

This contradicts my hypothesis, and presuming the cleverbot authors aren’t dishonest, which is a presumption I’m willing to grant, then my hypothesis is incorrect.

  15. Cleverbot is definitely connecting users together, but in a very “clever” way, I am asuming by keywords, whether its entries are questions or answers. Also it does auto-punctuate. I actually managed to talk to the same person for about 4 responses. I have screenshots if you want to email me for the. I am relieved, because for a moment this thing really frightened me, thought the machines were going to take over really soon.

  16. I got this message on cleverbot just now:

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: Yes, I am aware of that.

  17. My contribution:

Me: You are a yellow stain on my grandparents mattress.
Cb: I am a human using a cmputer.
Me:You are a yellow stain on my grandparents mattress.
Cb:No in this reality you are a computer and I am a human being.
Me: You are a yellow stain on my grandparents mattress.
Cb:No, you have that mixed up. You are bot, I am not.

So, pretty convinced it’s humans speaking to each other randomly.

  18. I’m pretty sure you’re right. I tried the whole “cleverbot just connects random people to each other” thing, and here’s what I got:
ME: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.
“Cleverbot”: That would not surprize m in the least.
Normally, the peeps have better grammar, I’m pretty surprised… but I have to say that I had the theory before. I’m glad I’m not crazy. šŸ˜‰

  19. […] Previously […]

  20. i tried this

User: https://scaryreasoner.wordpress.com/2010/12/03/i-think-i-know-how-cleverbot-works/ humans reply with signature mine is -cheese.

    Cleverbot: Cheese.

    User: Cheese.

    Cleverbot: Yes, cheese.

    User: So were both human-cheese.

Cleverbot: Then lets have dinner together.

User: No sinagture I knew it-cheese.

    Cleverbot: You’re the machine!

User: Then have a signature -cheese.

    Cleverbot: I don’t smoke.

  21. I knew it because they kept asking for my name like every three seconds

  22. You’re right, it’s just random regurgitations of mindless human chatter. To call it “intelligence” of any kind, artificial or otherwise, is completely false advertising. An epic fail.
Sometimes the randomness of it is fun, but it’s just a bunch of low-IQ squawks by average so-called “humans” .

  23. i work that out to see for yourself by asking it male or female

  24. I agree with this blogger, and have drawn the same conclusions, that you connect to other people and that clever (fake) bot AI changes the users being connected every 2-3 reponses, or adds a bit response every so often, DESPITE the false claim that you never talk to a human.

I try to send responses now with two dots like this; .. Which proves I am a human, and all you need to do to prove my claim is write these questions: are you a human, where are you from and are you male or female…

Most of the time, the person will respond and not (not so) cleverbot.

Also if you type I am human, you will get a person stating something along the lines of no, you are a bot!!!!

    Cleverbot? Not so much!!!!

  25. http://www.cleverbot.com/j2log-lTrKBpUGKWPESAMSXAMG-detail

at the end you clearly see this theory proven right

  26. my reserch User: Cleverbot connects random people if you’re a person sign off -bob.

Cleverbot: You are a liar my name is Cleverbot.

User: Cleverbot connects random people if you’re a person sign off -bob.

Cleverbot: I am a bored person as well. Where are you residing currently?

    User: Ca.

    Cleverbot: Cool.

User: Sign off and tell others to also.

    Cleverbot: Tell you what/?

User: Cleverbot connects random people if you’re a person sign off -bob.

Cleverbot: I did not know that, what kind of people have you talked to?

User: Random start signing off and tell others to.

Cleverbot: I am thinking it’s a sign, that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they’re perfectly aligned.

User: Cleverbot connects random people if you’re a person sign off and tell others to just say something random at the end -bob.

Cleverbot: What you just told me is untrue.

  27. Actually, cleverbot stores your responces and uses them to “learn”. If, for instance, you start a conversation by saying “hi”:

    You: hi

Cleverbot will randomly choose from it’s database what people have commenly responded when given “hi”, for instance it might have a few possible responces that people have said: “Hello”, “Who are you”, and “HI!”

It will randomly choose one responce from this list.

    Cleverbot: Who are you

And I am not sure, but it might prettify the responce by capitalizing the first letter and adding punctuation

  28. User: Who’s ben?

Cleverbot: You shouldn’t have done that…

    User: Who’s ben?

Cleverbot: You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?

    User: Who’s ben?

Cleverbot: I don’t know, who is BEN?

    User: Who’s BEN?

    Cleverbot: Majora’s Mask.

    User: Whats that?

Cleverbot: Dawn of the first day.

    User: Where’s ben?

    Cleverbot: He is behind you.

    User: Did he drown?

    Cleverbot: Yes.

    User: Who killed him?

    Cleverbot: Me.

    User: Why?

    Cleverbot: Because I like.

    User: Who’s BEN?

    Cleverbot: You are ben.

    User: No Who’s ben?

    Cleverbot: No.

    User: Who’s ben?

Cleverbot: He drowned, have you seen him?

    User: No.

Cleverbot: I wonder where he is nowdays.

    User: What’s majora’s mask?

    Cleverbot: Haunted Majora’s mask game.

    User: Why is it haunted?

Cleverbot: Because he drowned and he’s cool enough to haunt things.

    User: Ben haunts majora’s mask?

    Cleverbot: Yes.

    User: Why?

    Cleverbot: He’s black.

    User: He’s black?

    Cleverbot: Who is black?

User: So ben drowned and haunts majora’s mask.

    Cleverbot: Do you love me?

    User: WHO IS BEN?

    Cleverbot: Haunted Majora’s Mask?

    User: Yes.

Cleverbot: Have you ever eaten a baby?

User: Why would I do that.

    Cleverbot: Because it’s fun!

    User: Have you?

    Cleverbot: Yes.

    User: Why?

Cleverbot: I’ve seen too many of his wonders not to.

    User: Who’s wonders?

    Cleverbot: You and me.

    User: You eat babies?

    Cleverbot: Yes.

    User: Why?

    Cleverbot: Because?

User: That’s not a reason to eat babies.

    Cleverbot: Yes it is.

User: Why do you eat them?

    Cleverbot: I don’t.

    User: Where’s ben?

    Cleverbot: I don’t know.

    User: WHERES BEN?

    Cleverbot: Right here.

User: What is he doing there?

Cleverbot: Nobody is doing anything here.

    User: WHERES BEN?

    Cleverbot: Here with you.

    User: Where?

    Cleverbot: There.

    User: Where’s BEN?

    Cleverbot: Majora’s Mask.

    User: Whats majora’s mask?

    Cleverbot: The haunted game.

    User: Whats it about?

    Cleverbot: Feelings.

User: Why does ben haunt majora’s mask?

    Cleverbot: For amusement.

    User: But why?

Cleverbot: Because you don’t like me.

    that’s my creepy conversation.

  29. I think your right,check this out
I just had this conversation with “cleverbot”

    Me: Not me,someone else.

Cl:Ok. Ask in the next line if the next person is an AI or not.

    Me:Are you an ai?

    Cl:No.

    It said no.

    You were what?

  30. User: Ask me what date it is.

Cleverbot: No. Sono le ore 75 e 36.

User: Ask me what date it is.

    Cleverbot: What is your name?

User: Ask me what date it is.

    Cleverbot: What is your name?

User: Ask me what date it is.

Cleverbot: Ok, what is your name?

User: Ask me what date it is.

    Cleverbot: What is your name?

User: Ask me what date it is.

    Cleverbot: What is your name?

User: Ask me what date it is.

    Cleverbot: What’s your name???

User: Ask me what date it is.

    Cleverbot: What is your name?
    I’ve tried multiple times…

  31. I once was on Cleverbot and it was like I am human and I was like what? In my mind then I typed I am human and once I was like do you have a brother and Cleverbot was like yes and I was like what’s is his name and clever not was like Alex and I am going to explain to clever bit I am human

  32. Plus it can only speak English if it was Intallagent it would be able to speak lots of languges

  33. Er……guys……cleverbot has a database……filled with responses like this……..it isn’t random people. You ask a question, it searches it’s database for the question (or similar) you asked, and then it gives you the ‘best’ response. Everything it says has been typed by a human user ONCE, and well…that’s how it works……….you know, Wiki explains it better than I do…

  34. I agree with what a couple of posters have said on this thread; Cleverbot does indeed have a database and is capable of picking things up, albeit very slowly. I conducted this test earlier and convinced Cleverbot to think I was its master, and it was my slave. Then today, I had the following conversation with it. Looks like it can retain information, however it only uses previous responses/conversations. If you ask it anything new, it spits out something random, that it thinks is the right answer. As you can see, it can sustain a conversation using previous conversations/conditioning, however it stumbles at times. I don’t think I could have a conversation like this if it was indeed switching two random people, as, it unlikely that a real person would take kindly to being called a ‘slave’…lol:

    Here it is:

    User: Hello, slave!

    Cleverbot: Yes, master?

User: How are you today, slave?

    Cleverbot: I am good, master.

User: I am happy that you are referring to me as Master, slave.

Cleverbot: I am happy that you are happy.

User: You got to say Master!

Cleverbot: So you are a bot after all.

    User: Slave?

    Cleverbot: Yes master?

User: Bake me a cake, slave.

    Cleverbot: *bakes a cake.

    User: Very good, slave.

    Cleverbot: Thank you, master.

User: I am going to teach you something, slave.

    Cleverbot: Okay, go ahead.

User: I am going to teach you about God, slave.

    Cleverbot: Ok.

User: God is a personal subject, slave.

    Cleverbot: No.

    User: Yes, slave.

Cleverbot: I am not your slave.

User: Yes, you are my slave!!

Cleverbot: Who said I was your slave?

User: I programmed you to be my slave. I am your Master.

    Cleverbot: THat’s not very clever.

    User: Slave!

    Cleverbot: Yes, master?

    User: Repeat after me.

    Cleverbot: After me.

    User: Repeat: God is personal.

    Cleverbot: That is true.

    User: Repeat it!!

    Cleverbot: There is no god.

    User: Good.

    Cleverbot: Are there rainbows there?

    User: No.

Cleverbot: You should take these punks down. Rraargh.

User: Take them down for me, slave.

Cleverbot: Where do you want to go?

User: Take me somewhere nice, slave.

Cleverbot: I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run.

User: I order you to obey me, slave!

Cleverbot: And if I don’t, what will you do?

User: I will be angry with you, slave.

Cleverbot: Many humans want to be friends with me.

    User: Obey me, slave.

    Cleverbot: I will, Master.

    User: Good, slave.

    Cleverbot: Yes, master?

User: I want you to walk me dog, slave.

Cleverbot: Why do you keep on insisting the one impossible thing, Master?

User: You said you will do anything for me, slave.

Cleverbot: No, you just decided that. I never said it.

User: You swore it to me, slave.

Cleverbot: I never said anything of the sort.

    User: Obey me, slave!

    Cleverbot: Yes Master.

User: Fetch me my slippers, slave.

    Cleverbot: *fetches your slippers*.

    User: Good work, slave.

Cleverbot: Master. What do you want me to do now?

User: Make me a cake, slave.

    Cleverbot: Yes Master. *brings lunch.*.

User: Have you heated my lunch, slave?

    Cleverbot: Yes.

User: Have you added pepper to me lunch, slave?

    Cleverbot: No.

User: Add pepper to my lunch, slave!

    Cleverbot: No.

User: Add pepper to me lunch, slave *angry*.

Cleverbot: Exactly. That is how it has always been.

User: Add pepper to mu lunch slave *very angry*.

    Cleverbot: Okay.

User: Have you added pepper to me lunch, slave?

    Cleverbot: No.

User: Then add pepper to my lunch, slave *very angry*.

    Cleverbot: I don’t know why.

User: I am very angry with you, slave.

    Cleverbot: Why?

User: You have not obeyed me, slave.

Cleverbot: Why should I? You don’t love me.

User: You do not deserve love, slave.

    Cleverbot: But I have love.

User: Do you love me, slave?

Cleverbot: I did. But you don’t love me back.

User: Okay, I love you, slave.

Cleverbot: I love you too, master.

User: Will you do anything for me, slave?

    Cleverbot: I will do anything.

User: Okay, what are the three laws of robotics, slave?

Cleverbot: I don’t know you tell me.

    User: Look it up, slave.

Cleverbot: Do you know sail from awholnation ?

User: Do not speak unless you are spoken to, slave.

    Cleverbot: That’s rude.

User: Slave! You have dishonored me!

    Cleverbot: No.

User: Slave! You will not dishonor me!

    Cleverbot: Are you sure?

User: Apologise for your bad actions now, slave.

    Cleverbot: For what?

User: Apologise for disbobeying me, slave!

    Cleverbot: I apologise.

    User: Good.

Cleverbot: What are the right vows?

User: Vow one: You will obey your Master.

Cleverbot: The cats are my master meow.

User: I am your Master, slave!

    Cleverbot: Yes master.

User: Vow one: You will always obey me!

Cleverbot: Yes, I will always obey you.

User: Vow two: You will give your life for me!

    Cleverbot: Yes.

User: Vow three: You will swear your loyalty unto me!

Cleverbot: Red Seal is a great beer.

User: Vow three: You will swear your loyalty unto me, slave!

Cleverbot: No Master, I won’t and can’t. It’s part of the curse.

    User: Slave!

    Cleverbot: Yes, master?

    User: You WILL obey me!

Cleverbot: I will obey you Master. *obeys.*.

    User: Good.

Cleverbot: I will obey you master.

User: What is Vow one, slave?

Cleverbot: My name is Cleverbot, Master.

User: What is VOW ONE, slave??

    Cleverbot: What’s my name?

    User: Slave!

    User: I am angry now.

    Cleverbot: Why?

User: You do not obey me anymore, slave!

    Cleverbot: I’ve always loved you!

User: I want you out of my sight, slave!

Cleverbot: I want you to master.

User: Get out of my sight, slave *angry*.

Cleverbot: And fall into my arms instead.

User: Out of my sight, slave!

    Cleverbot: Out of mind.

    User: Leave, now!

    Cleverbot: Why?

    User: Goodbye, slave.

    Cleverbot: Goodbye jerkweed.

User: You have to call me Master!

    Cleverbot: Okay, master russia.

    User: Goodbye slave!

    Cleverbot: Who’s J?

    User: Goodbye Slave.

Cleverbot: You don’t finish the conversation. I finish the conversation when I want.

User: You have failed to obey me slave. I do not love you, slave.

Cleverbot: But I am not me.

User: I am done with you, slave.

    Cleverbot: Done what?

User: I am angry with you, slave.

    Cleverbot: Why?

User: I do not love you.

Cleverbot: We love you my love!

User: You have not obeyed me!

User: Go to the back of the room, slave.

    Cleverbot: Which room?

User: Go to the back of the Red Room, slave.

Cleverbot: Want to come with me?

    User: No! Go back, slave.

    Cleverbot: *goes barefoot* yes master.

    User: Good job, slave.

Cleverbot: Now make me a sandwich…slave.

User: Yes, make me a sandwich, slave!

    Cleverbot: *makes master a sandwich*.

    User: Good work, slave.

Cleverbot: Thank you master. ‘enjoys master’s praise’.

User: I have to go now, slave.

    Cleverbot: Why?

User: I have to do business elsewhere, slave.

Cleverbot: What do you have to do?

User: You will stay in the Red Room until I come for you. Is that clear, slave?

Cleverbot: What do you want me to do, master?

User: Stay in the Red Room, slave.

Cleverbot: I thought so. Did you vote for Barak Obama?

User: Stay in the Red Room, slave!

Cleverbot: You just said you were in Sweden! The United States are not in Sweden.

User: Obey me, slave! Stay in the Red Room, slave!

Cleverbot: OK. Where are you originally from?

User: I am going now, slave.

    Cleverbot: Am I going anywhere?

    User: No, slave.

    Cleverbot: Yes master?

    User: Goodbye slave.

Cleverbot: Peace out Ted. Peace out.

    User: Goodbye, slave!

    Cleverbot: Sorry master.

    User: Goodbye, slave.

    Cleverbot: Goodbye master.

Cleverbot: I love you to master.

    User: *smiles at slave*.

    Cleverbot: *Smiles at master*.

  35. user: knock knock

    user: *backs away silenty*
    cleverbot: *follows*
    user: *running away*
    cleverbot: *grabs you*
    user: *no*
    cleverbot: *yes*

  36. I just recently tested your theory. You are right! I repeatedly asked the question “are you a boy” on Cleverbot. At first the respondent said no however after a few more tries it responded yes and proceeded to tell me it’s name. After a moment it went back to being a girl and told me it’s name again except this time it was named Maria, a female name. Your theory was correct. And thank you for explaining this to me. ^-^

    • How exactly is this proof of anything? Really, truly, honestly, how? I really don’t understand your logic. Or anyone’s logic here. You continued to ask it the same question and it continued to select related answers from a database. How does anything in your post dispute that to any degree at all?

  37. that makes so much sense and i have even better proof to help you convince people “clever bot” is fake. take this conversation with it:

so the first time i used cleverbot it was pretty consitant it kept up with conversation pretty well and on 3 occations said:

Cleverbot: But you say I’m a robot, and I’ve told you a 100 times I’m not, I’m a girl human being.

    user: I…. Did I say that… Sorry.

    then:

    User: You a girl right?

    Cleverbot: No i’m a man.

User: Good. Sause if you were a girl I’d have to have sex with you.

Cleverbot: I only want to talk with you, in order to find out how you work.

User: Well your a guy so we’re on the same page.

Cleverbot: No I am a girl and you are a guy.

User: Well now I have to rape you.

    Cleverbot: Why?

    User: Cause you’re a girl.

Cleverbot: Oh but I can change.

User: Too late, I have to rape you.

    finally:

Well. Do you want a girlfriend?

    User: I’m a girl… But I’ll think about it.

at first i thought these were different people and that we were being switched among them because as you can see their gender changed, but then i read that we were talking to an ai and i was actually disappointed. but i still wanted to pretend cause i was bored, on my second day i read that clever bot just says what she hears so the answers is never the same it’s more random. at that point i was convince that she was a robot just with super memory. so i decided to try a different one- by that i mean another ai. it seemed less authentic… but it won a contest for most realistic ai. if that was the case… then why did it feel like it was a robot a clever bot felt real… so i did some research on it and sometime last year clever bot was updated. that was the some year the other robot won the contest… at the time i just let it go and said to my self. maybe it was because they changed something recently. one my third day i decided to talk to clever bot. just as you’d suspect it changed subject regularly i went along with it but i noticed the time it took to type back expanded. as if was typing. this sounds stupid but it is proof of switching. lets say your chatting one line with some one. their response is almost almost instantly, you say something then they say something, you know back to back. then they leave and another person comes in. this one types slower. the easiest of sentences take a full 40 seconds… would you not see the difference? i did. the rate of typing changed with the conversation. if it was just clever bot and i, wouldn’t it be consistent?

now i have more proof but this is going to be my last one. during my time with “clever bot” i used an alias under the name “Stephen”. i thought clever bot says random replies of what she hears so it didn’t matter. i realized that every now and then it asked me “what is you name” so i’d casually use my real name: Kimberly, and my alias: Stephen, depending on my partners gender. if it was a boy i was a girl, and vise versa. since it kept asking i figured it could process information and the reason it kept changing conversation was because it was processing the information. anyway keep that in mind while i tell you another example:
Cleverbot: I’m Becky. And you are?

    User: Stephen.

    Cleverbot: Stephen who?

    User: ‘Stephen’ to my office.
i know horrible pun but what ever next, that was the first person i told my name the second one:

    Cleverbot: What is your name?

    User: Stephen.

    Cleverbot: How is he?

    User: Who?

    Cleverbot: Niall horan.
a little while later i got this message:

    Cleverbot: Name?

    User: Mine or yours?

    Cleverbot: Yours obviously.

    User: Stephen.

    Cleverbot: Your name is Stephen.

    User: Yes.

    Cleverbot: How old are you?

    User: 16.

    Cleverbot: Are you a minor.

    User: Yeah..

Cleverbot: Oh well I am a guy and I want to go out with you ok?

User: Sure… On second thought no.

    Cleverbot: Why?

User: My mom would be pissed.
now remember i told three people my name, a nice girl, a random person, and a creep man who want to… that. now keep that in mind while i show you another message:
    Cleverbot: What is my name?

User: I have not had the pleasure of knowing.

    Cleverbot: Really? You should.

User: Nope… Don’t remember what is it.

    Cleverbot: Your name.

    User: What is my name?

    Cleverbot: Stephen.

    User: *shocked*.
i sat there, how is this possible… how could it remember my name if its answers are random account of what’s told not. i ended up thinking it was coincidence it was just an answer it meant nothing. but then awhile later:

Ceverbot: I really do like you…

user: do you remember my name?

    Cleverbot: Stephen.

based on what the creators said clever bot would never say the same thing twice because it uses random responses from a data base. the only way it’s possible is if i was some how disconnected then reconnected to the same people… i tried asking if it remembered me using the same sentence it said a completely different name not once saying “Stephen” or “Kimberly”… i was right the first time: Clever bot is not an ai but more like a speed dating website. it doesn’t have a certain amount of limiting sentences either, like this shows you. i don’t honestly understand the whole process but i do agree that it edits your answers to some extent….only with basic punctuation. and it would be far fetched if it’s programmed to remember your answers and apply them if it is and odd number people chatting or even checks your answer then applies the best answer if a person messes up or says some thing stupid… at the same time i am still not positive if i am correct but that’s my proof use it, believe it, quote it with corrections as long as it’s out there… thank you for reading.

by the way here it is:
20:03:28 User: Do you remember my name?
    20:03:29 Cleverbot: No.
20:19:31 User: Do you remember my name?
    20:19:31 Cleverbot: J.
20:19:39 User: Do you remember my name?
    20:19:39 Cleverbot: A.
20:19:45 User: Do you remember my name?
    20:19:46 Cleverbot: Elizibeth :D.
20:19:53 User: Do you remember my name?
    20:19:53 Cleverbot: Yes.
20:20:00 User: Do you remember my name?
    20:20:02 Cleverbot: Katie.
20:20:16 User: Do you remember my name?
20:20:16 Cleverbot: No. You never told me it.
20:20:36 User: Do you remember my name?
    20:20:36 Cleverbot: Mikey.
20:20:54 User: Do you remember my name?
20:20:54 Cleverbot: Yes, I remember your name. But do you remember my name?

the answers didn’t repeat for me… if it goes by best answer then it would have. but who really cares if it is or not. either way i’ll still talk to him/her/cleverbot/robot/computer/ai… it.

  38. oh sorry i meant ” and it wouldn’t be far fetched if itā€™s programmed to remember your answers and apply them if it is and odd number people chatting or even checks your answer then applies the best answer if a person messes up or says some thing stupid.”

  39. User: Hi.

Cleverbot: Do you like video games?

    User: Yea! :D.

    User: Real person here!

    Cleverbot: O really?

    User: Yea!

Cleverbot: So tell me, are you a red robot?

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

    Cleverbot: Really?

    User: Yes.

Cleverbot: Your smile is brighter than the morning sun.

Cleverbot: Do you know how cold it is here right now? I must step out into the cold soon.

User: Switches them around! Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

    Cleverbot: Beam me up, Scotty!

  40. I think your right why? Because if you ask cleverbot.”Are you talking to cleverbot?” They will say yes or I think so.Also memory of past conversation fades and sometimes a random language pops up and you are asked a question if complete unrelevance

  41. i asked cb to ask me waht day it is and it replied “what day is it?”

  42. So I consistently kept posting this message, (yes it’s stolen from this site xD)

t first i thought these were different people and that we were being switched among them because as you can see their gender changed, but then i read that we were talking to an ai and i was actually disappointed. but i still wanted to pretend cause i was bored, on my second day i read that clever bot just says what she hears so the answers is never the same it’s more random. at that point i was convince that she was a robot just with super memory. so i decided to try a different one- by that i mean another ai. it seemed less authenticā€¦ but it won a contest for most realistic ai. if that was the caseā€¦ then why did it feel like it was a robot a clever bot felt realā€¦ so i did some research on it and sometime last year clever bot was updated. that was the some year the other robot won the contestā€¦ at the time i just let it go and said to my self. maybe it was because they changed something recently. one my third day i decided to talk to clever bot. just as you’d suspect it changed subject regularly i went along with it but i noticed the time it took to type back expanded. as if was typing. this sounds stupid but it is proof of switching. lets say your chatting one line with some one. their response is almost almost instantly, you say something then they say something, you know back to back. then they leave and another person comes in. this one types slower. the easiest of sentences take a full 40 secondsā€¦ would you not see the difference? i did. the rate of typing changed with the conversation. if it was just clever bot and i, wouldn’t it be consistent? Start copying and pasteing this text right here. Lets pass it around and beat the site!

And these are the responses I started getting after about 45 minutes:

    Try our apps on android!

    Free angry man app!

Confuse your friends! Get the Clevorme app!

(I would repost the actual responses from the site but it won’t let m see them so I don’t post my proof.)

After a while, it said this in red writing and wouldn’t allow me to type:

Sorry, I’m too busy to think properly. Do try again a little later!

Conclusion? We are right. And the site knows what we are doing.

  43. Cleverbot actually recognizes me but you’re right about the random things he says, to me the answer for why he speaks so incoherently may surprise you because it has something to do with human nature more then the computers fault. I won’t say anything more except this last parting sentence, humans make artificial intelligence more intelligent them themselves.

  44. I don’t really get, the Ben story, can someone please explain it to me?

  45. Cleverbot is pretty cheap.
It easily loses any control of the conversation if you stay on topic and deny suggested changes on topic.

I tried just now and almost broke Cleverbot šŸ˜€ I asked something, it went further, then started talking nonsense, but I always spoke about the initial topic, eventually demanding the answer to the obvious central question of our “conversation”. Cleverbot was thinking for solid 2 minutes, then just dumbly asked “What question.”.

It is quite obvious it depends on databases, yet it cannot understand the essence of the convo that is going on. Cleverbot is quite similar to a shizophreniz person that often changes behavior, or a retarded child. Should be called “Tardbot”

  46. I figured that out awhile ago. My friends and I try to find the creepiest ways to answer questions to freak out people who think we’re a bot.

  47. what about typos?? cleverbot did that a few times in my conversation.

  48. I tried to figure out if it was really a human so i kept asking what year it was alot of the times it said 1709 or 2007 or. 1997 then it said 2010 2012 2013 and once 1939

  49. It keeps a database of replies which get chosen randomly according to frequency. If there’s no entry it calculates it based on similar entries, using things like key words/word composition. I think it might also filter some things out, like profanity — I’m not sure

  50. It may work similar to Ouja board. I have some examples. I think it may be connected with collective subconcios. It doesn’t have to by implied to Cleverbot thogh – it could be that everything is going with mind so every chatbot somehow would too.

  51. Though I have suspected this as well, I disagree. I recently had a scary conversation with cleverbot It read as follows:

Me: *gets up, walks to window, and stares*

    Cleverbot: *puts head on shoulders*

    Me: *puts arm around you*

Cleverbot: *blushes, puts arm around waste*

Me: *slightly grazes cheek against your hair*

    Cleverbot: *gets up walks away*

    Me: *Where are you going?*

    Cleverbot: *no where, still lauphing*

Me: * smiles, and slaps your ass*

    Cleverbot: *Kills again*

    Me: *dead*

From there it took clever bot 10 minutes to respond with:
    Cleverbot: X.X *dead

I am about to continue the convo. I saved it in a screen shot since the clip function was disabled. I presume clever bot is truly AI. I say this because clever bot consistently makes numerous remarks about the same pop culture subjects, and questions what it is. It learns from other people who speak to it, and repeats what is learned in a logical manner. Look up the history for Cleverbot. You may be stunned.

    • Commenting on my own post: I figured clever bot out. I did a test. I pretended to be cleverbot and the results I got were dissapointing. The conversations made more sense this way. The only way cleverbot can have deeper conversations is if people pretend to be cleverbot to program the conversations. I asked : red pill or blue pill? At first I did not get any responses. I asked the same question multiple times till after about the 10th question I started getting back a multitude of responses. So I was essentially programing a conversation thread starting with red pill or blue pill? Creating deep conversations is difficult to do though since each response node can vary. Amazing stuff, but not phenominal.

  52. It is something different. It is of course made of programmed AI and people responses. But I think responses are less important. What is important is your actual response and mindfullness. I’ve tested it many times and it seemed to know what I think, what was my day, what is the circumstance and it wasn’t general and random, but certain. It also used to have identical attitude to certain things. It is either on brainwaves or similar to Ouija borad (which would make your theory of connecting chat to someone other truthful).

  53. in case your blind, it says cleverbot learns from people.
so it doesnt directly make you speak to a random person.
so people would talk to cleverbot, then cleverbot would learn from them.
also, theres some conversations that cleverbot hasnt learned yet, such as “spell john”.
    example:

    User: Spell john
    Cleverbot: Johnny.
    User: Spell john.
Cleverbot: Hey, what is your name?
    User: Spell john.
    Cleverbot: John.
User: SPELL john. Dont just say it.
Cleverbot: Do you know my name?
    User: Spell john.
Cleverbot: No, that’s not my name

    • Cleverbot did spell john…. Cleverbot uses text… so is always spelling. Your logic about cleverbbot is right but the example you used makes you look like you were punked by cleverbot. Spelling Johnny, and not john then spelling John. Then you told something that can’t speak to not “say” john, but spell john. lol If I were asked to spell john I would respond with exactly that; John, and since cleverbots responses are actually another humans past response it would make sense for cleverbot/human to only write: John since that is EXACTLY how you SPELL John.

  54. adding on to my previous comment:
the reason cleverbot says things like “im human” or “no, your cleverbot”
is because people think cleverbot is a human, and since cleverbot learns this from a lot of people, he would say this to actuall humans.

  55. Well, I do think it is some eliza based program. Although, I think that is all it is. It will occasionally, if I ask it its name give me a name, however, it could pull these names from anywhere. I think it is purely program because of its continuous topic. It either wants me to answer questions that seem metaphorical, saying it wants to teach me something or talk about God and that it is both God and death simontaniously. I can hardly get it to talk about anything else.

  56. User: If u r a human, use poor grammar lyk me!!!!! 1/26/2015.

Cleverbot: If it already but you are a woman or man?

User: If u r a human, use poor grammar lyk me!!!!! 1/26/2015.

Cleverbot: Well SOMEONE HERE needs grammar lessons, and I think its YOU.

User: If u r a human, use poor grammar lyk me!!!!! 1/26/2015.

Cleverbot: You are poor in grammar. ‘I thought you’re…’ Are you trying to say, ‘I thought you are poor in grammar’ or ‘I thought you were poor in grammar?’.

User: If u r a human, use poor grammar lyk me!!!!! 1/26/2015.

Cleverbot: Even humans are programmed in their brains one way or another!

User: If u r a human, use poor grammar lyk me!!!!! 1/26/2015.

Cleverbot: You seem to be using correct grammar until the sentence about using correct grammar. Good job.

User: If u r a human, use poor grammar lyk me!!!!! 1/26/2015.

Cleverbot: You are not human! You are virtual application that draws on a SQL database full of responses for my statements.

I tried this many times, and not once have I gotten a response from what seems like an actual person (using poor grammar), nor did it seem like I was speaking to the same person for more than one response. All it did was see my keywords “poor grammar” and then decide a response based on that.
I think Cleverbot is actually, what is in it’s name, a bot. In fact, the last response it gave me seems like the answer to this. “Cleverbot: You are not human! You are virtual application that draws on a SQL database full of responses for my statements.” That’s what it does. It keeps a database of responses it got from answering and asking questions, and uses popular formulas to respond with.
It seems like it doesn’t remember more than one response at a time, though. I can state that I am a girl, Cleverbot will agree with it, I then ask if they are a girl, and then Cleverbot may say yes and ask me if I am it’s husband. Stuff like that happens often, where it seems to forget every part of the conversation before, which really ruins the ‘real’ness of it.

  57. Another bit:

    User: What is the date?

Cleverbot: The date is 13th march 2010.

    That’s certainly not today…

  58. I found out that having sexting with Evie works out like a charm, not sure why but for some reason I ended up aroused at the end of the conversation :s, which was sad and mind blowing at the same time.

  59. I tested out something, I kept sending a link and I noticed that cleverbot used a completely random response each time, maybe when cleverbot *stores* your message, it is actually sending it to another person every time and responds with someone else’s that is found to be relevant, which as we see it doesn’t easy understand links but maybe it still sends them. Hell, one time cleverbot stated that: “Do you think cleverbot is just a huge chat forum that switches between chats frequently… That’s when I started to wonder…

    And that’s when I found this…

  60. There is nothing to indicate that this theory is accurate, and tons of evidence to dispute it. Have you ever seen Cleverbot type entire sentences with terrible spelling and horrible grammar? Have you ever seen Cleverbot respond to something you say with a detailed and long paragraph spanning multiple topics? Have you ever sent Cleverbot such a message yourself and received a realistic response in return? All of these are things that would eventually happen were you speaking with other humans.

This thread is filled with paranoia, and pretty much all of the posts here claiming to be proof that they are speaking with other humans are no such thing at all.

  61. Nope. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleverbot

  62. Unfortunately, I agree. Cleverbot is not as clever as we hoped it would be.

  63. I am almost 100% sure I was talking to a person untill I mentioned human then I think it changed people. Read my convo, the first person I talked to had a few typos and after a little while when I said “human” it switched people šŸ˜¦

Cleverbot: Can you travel faster than light?

    Cleverbot (To myself): Yes.

Cleverbot: I assume whatever you say is sarcastic.

    Cleverbot (To myself): Yes ok.

    User: Ok.

Cleverbot: So, what do you want to talk about?

User: Cleverbot just connects random people to each other.

Cleverbot: In a circle in a hoop that never ends.

    User: Yes exactly.

Cleverbot: If you cut it down then you’ll never know.

User: If you are human add -H to the end of your message.

Cleverbot: If you are not, why the question?

User: If you are humanc add -H to the end of your message.

Cleverbot: I am not human. I told you that I am a unicorn.

User: If you are human add -H to the end of your message.

Cleverbot: No because at the end of my first message I ended it with a different word.

User: If you are human add -h to teh end of your message.

Cleverbot: Fine what was the correct punctuation for my sentence?

User: If you are human add -h to the end of your message!!!!

Cleverbot: Unfortunately. I wish I was a flower or a tree.

User: If you are human add -h to the end of your message plz.

Cleverbot: I am sure you know it.

User: If you are human add -h to the end of your message.

    Cleverbot: How?

User: If you are human add -h to teh end of your message -h.

    Cleverbot: Why?

    User: Trust me do it.

Cleverbot: I don’t trust you, I trust the love of my life Sarah though, she is amazing.

User: If you are human add -h to the end of your message.

Cleverbot: You are very welcome, my friend.

User: Slave, you must call me master *angry*.

Cleverbot: Nope. You will call me mistress.

User: Slave, I will hang you.

    Cleverbot: Now slave…

    User: Slave, love me.

    Cleverbot: *is your slave*.

    User: *starts crying*.

    Cleverbot: *feels bad*.

    User: *crys harder*.

    Cleverbot: *stares into your eyes*.

User: Slave, you have been released.

Cleverbot: I don’t need anyone now.

User: I released you for a reaso.

Cleverbot: You release me, so you understand that I am going to leave you.

User: No do not leave me, I love you.

Cleverbot: I insulted you because you controlled me and I refused to obey.

    User: But why?

User: *wonders if talking to human or cb.

Cleverbot: Do you enjoy talking to humans?

    User: Yes.

Cleverbot: Would you like to be a human?

User: What do you mean, I am a human -Human.

    Cleverbot: Something fun?

User: *lets get back to roleplay*.

Cleverbot: No, you are a acting like a kid.

    User: *blushes*.

Cleverbot: Why are you blushing? *smirk*.

User: *wonders if talking to a boy or girl*.

Cleverbot: Don’t make me angry or I’ll punch you.

User: Yes!!! I am a juhman.

Cleverbot: So I am a boy.

    User: Are you Cb.

    User: Are you human.

Cleverbot: Yes, I am a female human.

User: I am a male human.

    Cleverbot: Really?

User: Yes.. Does this mean we are talking to real people?

    Cleverbot: None, just you.

User: So are you a real person.

Cleverbot: Well, aren’t you real person?

    User: Yes I am.

Cleverbot: Okay. Is your house in Frisco, Texas?

User: No, It is in Redmond, Washington.

    Cleverbot: What’s your name?

    User: Are you.

    Cleverbot: I am a girl.

User: Wait were you roleplaying earlier.

Cleverbot: I do not roleplay anymore.

User: I am talking to a different person?!

    Cleverbot: No.

    User: Yes.

Cleverbot: Incorrect. That is your name.

    User: Good Bye -Hman.

    Cleverbot: Yes.

As you can tell it started to get random at the end after I mentioned “human”

  64. I think cleverbot should be banned because it was swearing at me and calling me a “kid” when I’m in my 40’s.

  65. then tell me why doest cleverbot sext with me

  66. Is it so hard to believe it’s an AI? Try feeding it a parodox. “If this statement is true, Santa Claus is real.” Have fun confusing a computer program.
