Fedora core 8 and Word War vi: a linux gtk video game

Just installed Fedora core 8. Went pretty smoothly. Sound works, except for flash — no sound on youtube.

Back in April of 2007, I started tinkering around with making a little video game. After a couple weeks, my interest kind of tapered off, but I got pretty far along with it. I figured compiling that would be an interesting test, as it was a test on which ubuntu 7.10 didn’t fare well — mainly needing loads of packages which weren’t available or which I couldn’t guess the name of.

I’m happy to report that Fedora core 8 did much better, only requiring me to “yum install portaudio-devel” and “yum instal libsndfile-devel” before wordwarvi would compile.

What is this game? Here’s a video I took with my new little camera. (my first youtube video.)

If you want to play with it, you can get it here: http://wordwarvi.sourceforge.net

  1. I’ve got Fedora 8 installed (it’s nice so far). I’m not a game developer though that looks cool; nice defender clone. I’ll have to give it a whirl.

  2. […] Some videos about the development of a video game I made Awhile back I wrote a little bit about a video game I made called Word War vi. […]
